So more about me, I have worked in a hospital on Medsurge, ICU,ER and as a House supervisor. I primarily work Medsurge unless there is a need somewhere else. So I get to see a little bit of all sides of the healthcare system.
The problem with healthcare systems is the decreasing amount of staff and increasing demands in the workforce. Everyday we are required to be responsible for more duties but yet we are staffed inadequately because profit hospitals decide what are staffing is going to be. This takes a toll on many of the responsibilities I have as a nurse. It is discouraging to watch patients get better to only be readmitted in a week or two weeks with the same complaints of a chronic illlness such as CHF or COPD.
Education is an important part of our job as nurses. Patients rely on us to educate them, when hospitals are understaffed and overworked the education we could be providing is being affected due to the demand on our Job. The healthcare system is only worried about money and Saving a dime anyway they can. All patients should have the best standards of care and the right to be educated on their Disease/Illness.
